讲座1:Holistic Approach to Enhancing the Blast Resistance of Buildings and the Need for Performance Based Design

Mr. John Crawford

Chairman of K&C Protective Technologies Pte Ltd, Singapore; President of Karagozian & Case, Califonia, USA

Mr.Crawford has been designing structures to resist the effects of blast, highenergy impacts, and shock for more than 40 years. He has provided vulnerability assessments and designs for reducing the risks from blast effects for numerous types of facilities both in the US and abroad. He has more than 500 reports and papers on the subject of blast effects mitigation and analysis. Mr. Crawford is also Guest Professor of Tongji University and Guest Professor of Civil Aviation University of China. His talk includes outline the need for holistic approach to blast-resistant design, blast-resistant window/wall façades and curtain walls and discuss consequence of having blast-resistant façades.

讲座2:Progressive collapse analysis of a building in Hongqiao Transportation Hub and Shanghai Center

A. Prof. Su-Wen CHEN

State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering; College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University

Dr. Chen received her B. Sc degree and M. Sc degree from Tianjin University in 1994 and 1997 respectively, and she got her PhD in Tongji University in 2001. She visited Hongkong Polytechinc University, University at Buffalo and University of California at Irvine from 2001 and 2004. She has been working on structural dynamics from 1995, especially on structural system identification, effect of earthquake and subsequent fire on steel building, and structural safety from terrorist attacks. She will introduce current progressive collapse analysis methods as well as two case studies of Hongqiao Tansportation Hub and Shanghai Center.

讲座3:Architectural Protection Against Explosive Events

Dr. Kent M. Young

Direct of Technology, The Sherwin-Williams Company

Born and raised in Canada, Kent Young received his B.Sc. degree with First Class Honours from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1985. Kent went on to get his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1989 from MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for his work on the photochemistry of reactive organometallic species. After that, he joined in Polaroid Corporation and then to Parker Hannifin Corporation in 1996. From 2003, Kent relocated to Cleveland to head the architectural technology development groups at Sherwin-Williams. He will introduce Sherwin-Williams innovated elastomeric catcher systems for blast mitigating of facade emphazing proper anchorage system.
