报告人简介:Yong Lu is Professor and Chair of Structural Mechanics in the School of Engineering, The University of Edinburgh. Prior to joining University of Edinburgh in March 2007, he was with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, for a number of years. He graduated from Tongji University with a BSc degree in 1983.
His research interests include structural response to earthquake, shock and blast loads, as well as vibration based structural identification.
报告内容:The design of civil and protective engineering structures is often governed by a few extreme loading scenarios, for instance earthquake, shock and blast. These loadings are generally dynamic in nature. However, due to the drastic variation in the duration, or frequency contents of the loads, the characteristics of the response and failure mechanisms differ significantly. Consequently, very different modeling and analysis requirements may arise for different cases. This talk begins with an overview of the response characteristics for a range of extreme dynamic loads. A brief review of some latest developments in the numerical modeling for the high-impulsive loading analysis follows. A few recent studies conducted by the speaker and his co-workers on the effects of impulsive loads, including the analysis of concrete under high strain rate loading using a mesoscale model, are introduced. In the last part, a brief discussion on the vibration based structural indentification will be given.
